Inspired by absinthe, bittersweet nectar of poets, A Taste of Heaven has nothing in common with the herbal fragrances that usually carry the absinthe name. This perfume gives an initial burst of orange blossom then blossoms into a heart of Turkish rose, which is joined by the deep brown, woody hues of patchouli and oak moss. This surprising garden is enhanced with rich and a fresh sprig of French lavender, while Bourbon vanilla pulls double duty as both an anchor and a rich, fluid and sweet player throughout the scent. A Taste of Heaven falls more on the elegant side of masculinity yet retains all the seduction and power that can only come from a fragrance that combines so many opposites. It’s unpredictable…and we like it like that.
A Taste of Heaven Notes
Calabria bergamot oil, geranium bourbon oil, orange flower absolute, Turkish rose absolute, green absinthe oil, lavender barreme oil, lavandin abrialis oil, lavandin green absolute, lavandin green concrete, Indonesian patchouli oil, oak moss extract, costus oil, ambrarome absolute, vanilla bean absolute, tonka beans

When you call your scent “aphrodisiac”, you’d better be fairly sure you’re not overreaching yourself. This latest release from By Kilian, is the sixth composed for the house by Calice Becker, is as head-turning a love potion as you’re ever likely to spritz on. That is, if you enjoy the velvet-smooth, burning liquid umber of a great cognac and the hay-like scent of tobacco steeped in fruit and honey, or sipping a fine amaretto on a bed of moss. Who doesn’t?
Back to Black is an olfactory trip to Arabia – or perhaps to the exotica-mad 1920s, when Caron gave Tabac Blond to sultry, cigarette-smoking garçonnes. The tobacco accord is slyly evoked through the herbal, faintly animalic scent of chamomile laced with honey; the honey in its turn conjures faintly floral aromas. Throughout its development, Back to Black runs through a palette of subtly gourmand flavors, from ripe, almost fermented raspberry to the dry cocoa powder of patchouli, along with almond and vanilla, without ever veering into tooth-aching sweetness thanks to the bitter, cooling effect of cardamom, coriander, vetiver and moss. It stretches out languorously on the skin for hours, displaying its dark facets, leaving you hungry for more Arabian nights in its amber glow.
Back to Black Notes
Bergamot, raspberry, blue chamomile, cardamom, coriander, saffron, cedarwood, vanilla, almond, vetiver, cistus labdanum, patchouli, oakmoss.

There is something about the sweet floral notes of tuberose that have driven perfume lovers crazy with all-consuming desire to possess it, wear it, revel in it and worship it. It inspires poetry and prose and seems to act as a license to the quiet ones to be completely out of control and for the wild ones to be calmed by its charms…it’s sort of like catnip for humans. So, if it’s already that attractive, it takes a special blending of this incredible floral to really amp things up to beyond spectacular…and the search ends here. Beyond Love goes beyond tuberose infatuation and straight into heady intoxication with a blend of rich coconut, soft musk and warm ambergris…if this perfume was a blanket, we would want to strip off our clothes and roll on it for hours before we passed out in a sweet floral dream. Beyond Love Notes
Coconut accord, Egyptian jasmine absolute, tuberose concrete, tuberose absolute, green tuberose, tuberose petals accord, ambergris, tonkin musk

This unisex fragrance finds its home around the balsamic notes of oud, a legendary wood whispered to be worth more than its weight in gold. Cruel Intentions and Liaisons Dangereuses were meant to bring forth the concept of pleasures of the flesh…a Parisian orgy of the senses...a mix of earthly desires and defiance of prohibitions and conventions (so you know these aren’t simpering, fresh little forget-me-nots). The orange-lemony scents of bergamot from southern Italy are in its opening, which quickly dissipates into a woody heart. Dry papyrus and Haitian vetiver bring earthy mystery and elegance while the entire scent dances around the base notes of warm and golden styrax and castoreum. Like a demanding lover, its cruelty lies in the fact in brings you in and wraps you in a warm, earthy embrace, insisting you shove all others to the side…and you do so willingly.
Cruel Intentions Notes
Bergamot calabria oil, orange blossom oil, violet accord, centifolia rose absolute, agarwood, Indian papyrus oil, gaiacwood oil, Haiti vetiver oil, sandalwood, styrax absolute, castoreum absolute, vanilla absolute, musk

By Kilian intends Liaisons to be one of the two unisex fragrances— and it hits that perfect middle ground of beautiful scent experience with no obvious gender strings attached. It’s inspired by rose from Damascus and mixes this velvety floral together with indulgent fruits for a smooth, languid feel that brings to mind an alcove inhabited by casual lovers kicking back and enjoying the ripe fruits with no concern for napkins. Rich and complex, this is a passion-inducing mix tethered to earth with a tiny breath of Egyptian geranium and a brush of cinnamon and vanilla. Indian sandalwood and a whisper of musk are surprising additions, and lend the plum, blackcurrant and prune notes a soft bed on which to recline, creating a sensuous, full bodied fragrance with gentle, rose-colored edges and a rich and perfectly ripe interior.
Liaisons Dangereuses Notes
Coconut flesh, prune absolute, plum, blackcurrant buds absolute, crystallized peach, cinnamon bark oil, ambrette seeds absolute, rose Damascus, geranium bourbon, Australian sandalwood oil, oakmoss extract, vetiver java oil, clear woods, vanilla extract, white musks

It had to happen. After the “Prelude” comes “Love”, then “Beyond Love”… and it all ends in tears. But clearly, these are the tears of joy that spring from sweet surrender. When was jasmine ever sad? If this glorious jasmine soliflore makes your eyes tingle, it’ll be just because it’s so darn beautiful. Unlike her other compositions for the line, Calice Becker has kept this one simple at Kilian Hennessy’s request, since jasmine is a symphony in and of itself. In Love and Tears, each of its facets shines. Bergamot and petit grain add their tartness to the fruitiness of the flower, while cypress boosts its green notes with echoes of lily-of-the-valley and gardenia. Orange blossom and ylang-ylang flesh out the creamy floral heart, while aromatic cistus lends a subtle ambery glow to the drydown. But for all its sensuality, Love and Tears has a spare, contemporary feel that could turn it into a great masculine, for those who can rock flowers… What can we say? Surrender.
Love and Tears Notes
Bergamot, petit grain, cypress, jasmine, orange blossom, ylang-ylang and cistus.

Kilian says the inspiration of Love was the marshmallow…a mouth watering treat for sensuous connoisseurs. It’s sweet (but not overly) and tender at first, a soft and sugared elixir mixed with the orangey delights of bergamot and neroli, warmed with caramel and vanilla. It's almost nostalgic in some way…not an old fashioned feel but more like youthful exuberance which gains a gentle sensuality as it warms on the skin and the rose, jasmine and sweet notes combine. Love captures that sweet transition from innocence to worldly, but it never crosses the line into beat-you-over-the-head sexy territory. It’s a memory scent, somewhere between a young girl’s unicorn, rainbows and purple phase and her door slamming, love struck tirades…right in-between innocence and not.
Love Notes

A clean, graceful iris that opens with a dizzying rush of fresh citrus. Bergamot, orange and a particularly bright and breezy lemon mingle with green notes to give this an exuberant beginning – all youth and innocence and laughter. Then, the floral heart emerges, pierced with ginger and a pepper that tingles like the blush of a first crush. Soaring orange blossom is artfully blended with a stunning rendition of just-bloomed iris, with grace notes of earth and root that give it a soft, suede-like feel. Iris fragrances are sometimes brooding and melancholy, but this is sun drenched and dreamy, with just a hint of wistfulness. The crisp tartness of lemon never fades entirely, but nestles with the cool iris to create something lovely and unexpected. We picture yellow irises and green grass under a brilliant enamel blue sky and remember the first time a crush blossomed into real romance. How amazed we were that something so simple could become so complex in the space of a heartbeat. Prelude to Love Notes
Seville orange, bergamot, Amalfi lemon, ginger, pepper, orange blossom, Florence iris
