Tom Ford was born in Austin, Texas, but spent most of his childhood in New Mexico. After moving to New York and studying at New York University, in 1990 he moved to Milan, entering Gucci as a designer of women's clothing, and later became creative director in 1994. He will work with Gucci until 2004, when he will leave the company. In 2005 he announced the creation of the Tom Ford brand, supported by the ex President and Gucci Group CEO Domenico De Sole. After having reached an agreement with the Marcolin Group, a leading international eyewear, and with Estee Lauder, the two brands have developed and released a fragrance and a beauty collection with the Tom Ford Beauty brand, launched in November 2006 with the signature Tom Ford Black Orchid fragrance, followed by Tom Ford Black Orchid Voile de Fleur. The first men's fragrance, Tom Ford for Men was launched in September 2007. |
