The fashion house Prada, which was originally known as Fratelli Prada, was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada. In 1978 the company was inherited by Miuccia Prada, Mario's granddaughter, who took it to the forefront of international fashion shows, making it one of the most prestigious and well known brands in the world.
Miuccia had an initial success with her creative use of innovative materials, for which she launched in 1985 a simple and modern handbags made of a black shiny nylon parachute. The line achieved and immediate commercial success, but at the same time the high prices favored the illegal trade of goods designer Prada (which now takes on international characters).
The first prêt-à-porter Prada was designed by Miuccia Prada in the autumn/winter collection of 1989, which clear and elegant lines helped a very rapid growth in popularity of the brand. Later in New York was exhibited at the prestigious Moma's the innovative nylon bag and this gave the company the opportunity to expand in the United States by purchasing a new market.
What emerges from the Prada articles, starting from the bag until the couture dress, is the interpretation of the ugly in accordance with the designer who, by now famous and popular, is still having success with her clothes characterized by an "unusual" elegance but also a great comfort and refinement.
