CoSTUME NATIONAL is an Italian fashion house founded in 1986 by Ennio Capasa, Creative Director, and his brother Charles, CEO of the Maison. The legal and administrative office of the brand is in Milan.
Ennio Capasa creates himself in Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera, Milan. After completing his studies he moved to Tokyo where for two years he collaborates with Yohji Yamamoto. Returned to Italy, in 1986 he founds with his brother Charles CoSTUME NATIONAL and, in the same year, he presentes his first women's collection in Milan. In 1991 Ennio Capasa decides to present CoSTUME NATIONAL in Paris, ideal for the international style of the Maison. In 1993 Capasa launched CoSTUME NATIONAL HOMME proposing a super-slim silhouette, developing a style that combines the search to the tradition of Italian tailoring. Between 1995 and 1998, the Maison openes boutiques in Milan, New York, Rome, Los Angeles and Paris.
In 2000 Ennio Capasa presents the CoSTUME NATIONAL HOMME AI2000/2001 Collection live streaming on the web in collaboration with Kataweb, Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso.
In 2001 the Maison launches The Trilogy: Scent, Scent Intense and Sheer, three unisex fragrances, and in 2003 presents its first eyewear collection.
In 2004 Ennio Capasa launches CoSTUME NATIONAL C'N'C, the “street” version of his world minimalist, urban and avant-garde. C'N'C CoSTUME NATIONAL, produced and distributed under license from ITTIERRE, offers ready to wear collections and accessories for men and women.
In 2010 CoSTUME NATIONAL announces the entrance of the Japanese-Chinese SEQUEDGE as a minority shareholder, with a long-term strategic partnership.
